Frequently Asked Questions About Infrared Saunas

Q: How long does it take to warm up the sauna?

A: Allow the sauna to warm up for 15 - 20 minutes at which time it should be approximately 35°C. If placed outside the sauna may require additional time to warm it up, depending upon weather conditions. If you prefer the sauna hotter, let it warm up longer. Drink plenty of water, at least 8 oz.

Q: Can I receive constant heat with an Infrared Sauna using the digital controller?
A: ABSOLUTELY. To receive constant Far infrared heat using your JT SPAS digital controller, simply set the controller to its highest setting. During a 30 to 45 minute session, the heaters will be emitting 100% Far infrared heat, with no intermittent shut off.

Q: What is the optimum Far infrared frequency for an Far infrared sauna?
A: The result of OUR SAUNAS area allows for the lowest surface temperature of any other Far infrared heater. This means the best performance well within this vital wave range of 7 to 14 microns with a good portion of wavelengths at 9.4--which is the frequency at which a water molecule resonates or vibrates. This vibration causes a release of cellular toxins such as mercury, aluminum, cholesterol and other toxic gases.

Q: I am chemically sensitive. Are some sauna woods more hypoallergenic than
other woods?

A: ABSOLUTELY. Other brands will use veneer sheets in place of tongue and groove wood on many parts of the sauna such as the exterior, ceiling, back panel, and floor. When the sauna heats up to 140 degrees, these veneer sheets may off-gas and cause eye irritation as well as other reactions. If you are sensitive, only a 100% tongue and groove sauna is recommended

Q: Why do you sweat up to 3 times more in a Infrared Sauna when it is less than half the temperature of a traditional sauna or steam room?
A: Because Infrared is a radiant source of heat, it warms the body directly rather than having to warm the air, much like the suns warmth on a cold winters day. There is simply no need for very hot air. Infrared heat stimulates the molecules in our body and increases their vibration causing a natural friction warming effect which penetrates deeply into our tissues spreading the warmth deep in to the body. This process is sometimes called resonant absorption. The result is that a much greater VOLUME of our body is warmed, so our body reacts by working much harder to maintain its optimum temperature through increased sweat production.

Q: How often can I use an Infrared Sauna?
A: As with any form of exercise it is advisable to build up a tolerance over time. Three sessions a week of about 20 minutes is initially recommended. Many people once conditioned can safely enjoy daily sessions of 30-40 minutes.
It could be said that many illnesses which afflict modern society can be attributed to an excess of toxins and a deficiency in nutrients. To help maintain a balanced and healthy body, a diet rich in fresh fruit and vegetables, with ample water intake and dietary supplementation is highly recommended to enhance the effectiveness of your Infrared Sauna regime.

Q: Can anyone use an Infrared Sauna?
A: Pretty much. From young to old they are a safe and enjoyable treatment. However, anyone with specific health conditions should consult their health professional before using. Young children will dehydrate faster than an adult due to their ratio of surface area to volume. They should therefore be strictly supervised at all times. For the list of few advisements

Q: Is Infrared heat safe? Is it like a microwave or a tanning bed?
A: Infrared heat is completely safe. In fact, it is so safe, hospitals use similar heaters to warm newborns. Infrared heat is part of the very safe bandwidth of light, unlike ultraviolet (tanning beds) or microwaves.

Q: Is there much maintenance involved?
A: Not at all. By using a towel on the seat and the floor you will have nothing to clean after a session. A quick wipe down of the glass door with a lint free cloth is about all that is required along with a wipe down with a gentle antibacterial agent from time to time (or after each use in a commercial location).

Q: Can I put an Far infrared sauna outdoors?
A: Most Infrared Saunas are not designed to go outdoors. Although there is an outdoor sauna specifically designed for outdoor use and comes with a canvas cover to help protect it from the weather.

Q: How is the sauna shipped ?
A: Our Saunas arrive in two easy to open boxes on a pallet. It will be shipped to your front door or garage.

Q:Is sitting in an Infrared Sauna safe for a pregnant woman?
A: This is almost definitely a bad idea. Pregnancy-info.net has more information.

Q: Is a JT SPAS Sauna expensive to run?
A: Definitely not! And with increasing utility costs this becomes a very relevant point. Because the infrared elements are so efficient at warming the body, it uses minimal power. Our most popular two person size cabins use only 1800W of electricity – less than a hair dryer! Based on NIE’s current household rate of 11.02 pence per kilowatt an Infrared Sauna uses less than 30p per hour.

Q: Is an Infrared Sauna easy to assemble and disassemble?
A: Yes! It will usually take two people between 20-40 minutes to assemble their sauna for the first time and less than 30 minutes for complete disassembly.

Q: Where do people usually put their Infrared Sauna?
A: These compact units are specifically designed to be easily fitted into even the most compact spaces. The extensive range of sizes offers great flexibility for any household. Because they are totally self contained with no special power, plumbing or venting required, the infrared sauna can go anywhere there is a standard electrical socket. Bedrooms, offices, family rooms and garages are commonly used.
